For WTF episodes, I'd recommend:
Doug Stanhope & Janeane Garofalo- This might be just because I'm a huge Stanhope fan, but these are two dudes whose styles really lend to the conversational format of a podcast. Top-secret insight into who used to have a crush on Garofalo
Zach Galafianakis- If only for how uncomfortable Marc Maron makes Zach G.
Jim Norton- Not one of my favorite comics (although I do enjoy his work and his candor), but it is hilarious and also very interesting to hear him delve deep into his sexual addiction/deviancy
Carlos Mencia- This actually lasts for two episodes. Maron brings Mencia on the show to discuss why he's so hated, and whether he actually steals material, et cetera. In the next episode, it turns out Maron did some investigating, and conducted interviews with people who have worked with Mencia in the past. He does a similar episode later with Dane Cook.
Jim Jefferies- More for Jim than Marc. Incredibly funny, and immediately made me want to hear more of Jefferies' material.
I didn't think Zach seemed that uncomfortable. He seemed to really like Marc, but he's kind of hard to read, I guess. Marc is, too, sometimes. He says shitty things about people as jokes but you can tell he kind of means them, too.
The Stanhope episode is one of the best. I was not that into Stanhope, despite a friend with good taste swearing to his awesomeness and making me watch one of his specials. That didn't make me a Stanhope fan, but the WTF episode did. I really started to like him after that.
The first El Chupacabra episode just about made me pee my pants.
I really want to hear the bonus episode you have to pay for where Morgan Murphy calls him out in front of a crowd for fucking her and then never calling her again. I'm too cheap to pay the two dollars or whatever, though. There's also allegedly an episode where he talks about having sex with Natasha Leggero and how things got really weird right afterwards, but I've never heard it, despite having listened to probably 90% of the podcasts.
Recently, the Judd Apatow episodes were pretty cool.
I liked the one with Maria Bamford while they were driving. There have been a lot of great episodes. Some duds, but not too many.
