How does the whole getting glasses thing work? I've been squinting and leaning in a lot lately. Some  places have signs that say free eye exam, is that only free if you buy glasses from them when it's done? can you just get your prescription and then order them for cheap on the internet?

Say you had no optical insurance and not much money. What would you do?

In fact over the last year, I've bought 5 pairs of Glasses for $178 (~$35 each)
And that include a $19 upcharge($95) because I need a prism correction, which most people don't therefore on average costing $16.50 each

I have the same issue with a big head.  I've had the same pair of regular half frames for like 5 years now.  I'd like a new pair for the sake of having a new/2nd pair, but meh. I hate shopping for shit.

I'm pretty sure I need glasses. I've been putting off going to the doctor though, because I have this weird ability to put on any pair of glasses, and no matter how strong the prescription, I can adjust my eyes to see clearly through them. I think I'll end up getting the wrong prescription.

yes, you can totally do that.  it's actually what i did for this pair of glasses.  with warby parker, you can input your script and they'll call to verify with where ever you got the exam.

I ordered a pair of glasses to read and watch tv with, they look both cool and weird. They were the least douchy glasses that were there!

this site as well as the warby site only have the full plastic frames. the glasses i like are the ones that have the plastic on the top and metal bands holding the lenses in. like horned-rimmed glasses or 'clubmans'.

yayaya.  I've only bought one pair of sunglasses in my life, because I've only found one pair that fit.  I can get ones that fit, but they're like $100+ more to get extenstions and stuff for my melon.  The pair of regular glasses I have, I've had since I was like 14.  They don't fit, and aren't really the right prescription, but I only really use them to get from the bedroom to the bathroom and vise versa.

when you go on the glasses websites, be sure to check the "wide" button for frame size since most frames arent wide and it weeds out a ton
