Matt AVG presents 2010 LastFM World Cup (Just 2 players NEEDED!!!!)

I need 32 people to enter this tournament.

I will give each entrant a 3 song review of their station. The total score for that review will be used to determine your seed/draft order.

When seed/draft order is determined you will select one of the 32 countries participating in the 2010 FIFA World Cup. You will play the same day that your drafted country plays. The goals they score plus the rating your song gets will determine your total. Round robin scoring will be like that of the world cup (3 points for a win, 1 point for a tie.)

You will continue to score bonus points while your team is alive in the real World Cup, but you can still advance even after you pick the U.S. and they choke by scoring only 2 goals in their 3 games.




Some of this might sound complicated but it should work even if you dont care about the greatest sporting event on the planet.

Real games start June 11, i will try and have all the seeding reviews done by the 6th (if anyone signs up tonight i might be able to get 2-3 done pretty quickly.

Junior Battles - Major Label Bidding War
I think this is only the second time i have heard this band. I dont know how much staying power there is, but i am liking it. This particular song is 30-45 seconds too long. 6/10

The Manges - When Heroes Go Down
The Manges are one of those bands i always think about checking out but never get around to it. This song is not going to make me rush to manges.com to purchase the discography but i wont write them off either 5/10

House Boat - DC Showcase Presents: Inferiority Complex, Volume 420
I have not gotten into House Boat as much as i thought i would. None of the songs stand out after listening to 3-4 they just start to blend together. 7/10

Listened to this album once maybe twice when it first leaked. Alkaline Trio and Weezer have not completely lost me yet, but at this point i just assume their new album will be super meh. 5/10

Jets to Brazil - I Typed For Miles

Frank Turner - I Knew Prufrock Before He Got Famous
This is so close to be really annoying but it never goes to that next level. I liked it better than the other two songs and the guy does have a nice voice 6/10

Killing the Dream - Holding The Claws
I was pretty into this kind of stuff about 6-7 years ago. The thing is i dont know shit about it. I think i basically chose which bands were better based on names of the band and songs plus how sweet their t shirts and dance moves were. 3/10

Discount - T.V. Kiss
Ever feel like their is so much music out there that you want to check out and you will never get around to it so you just want to give up. I know i have pretty much everything Disount ever made semi-easily available but i have no idea what half the songs are called or even what some of the records sound like. This song is really short and the vocals dont completely overpower everything else like on some of the stuff i have heard 7/10

Jawbreaker is just another band for me. I never really got into them as much as a lot of people i hung out with in highshcool. I still dont really see whats so great 6/10

Teenage Bottlerocket
This is what i like most of the time. Its simple, its catchy, my high school educated midwestern brain can figure out the concept and sing along 8/10

I saw the worst band ever open for Lemuria late last year. It was the first time since high school that i can remember actually being embarrassed for a band on stage. Anyway i like this song a lot 8/10

The last.fm bio for these guys is pretty lame. This song has some neat stuff going on, but i dont really care to hear anymore.

Gang of Four has some real duds in their catalog, but this is not one of them. Allmusic.com says we can thank Gang of Four for Franz Ferdinand, Bloc Party, and The Rapture but i wont hold that against them. 7/10
