No, they weren't dead or in purgatory or whatever on the island like everyone thought in season one, only in the alternate timeline.

Yeah, i think the 'main' series was definitely not them being dead, or in purgatory. Just the sideways stuff and the very ending

so are we to assume hurley, desmond, and ben died on the island at some point, and time doesn't really apply in the sideways stuff?

I don't think you have to assume it, since they pretty much told you it directly.

Yeah.... there was some comment about "some of them died before you, some died long after you"

What Lucas said.

Also, I was oddly satisfied by the ending. I'm glad they resolved all the characters. I think it was the fact that I had an epiphany earlier this season where I realized that the middle 3 seasons of the show were meaningless nonsense and accepted that we were never going to find out the answer to most of the questions we had.

Still a shame that they never really explained the island or the meaningfulness of it, or the reason why these particular people well chosen to do what they did. No I am not ok with the "flawed" explanation.

There are so many more unanswered questions, but in the end, they really didn't matter at all.

Still kinda sad for Lost to end. It was fun watching it live every week with friends and talking with you all about it online the next day. I'm glad for that experience (thinking about the show) if nothing else.

Yeah, that whole last segment was a little brutal and nearly killed the whole fucking thing for me, but I've been expecting way worse for a while now, so, yeah, no biggie.

Anyone care to explain to me what those last three shots of the plane wreckage were supposed to be?  Was there something being implied there, or were those just pretty pictures or something.  Cause, yeah, huh?

It was very fun to watch and think about this show, but I'm pretty disappointed in the actual ending (unless something clicks for me that I'm missing right now)

My fear/assumption with this show was always that, in the end, nothing really mattered except the characters that these creators had such big boners for.  I think Desmond's whole bit to Jack about "none of this matters" was an obnoxious way of saying the same thing to us.

I agree completely with what Lucas said in the other thead.  It was a very good episode, and they were nailingit, getting me all teary eyed and shit, and then the very ending was kind of dumb.  I need to stew on it some more though, definitely.

I'm really not sure how they could have explained what the "meaningfulness" of the island was any more. I'm also not sure how they could have explained why those specific people were chosen any better.

I think it was just pretty closing footage. Not really sure though.

Everything that happened on the show was "real" accept the sideways timeline, which turned out to be some kind of in-between afterlife, between life and death where they eventually all meet up and move on. Jon said it reminded him of Kingdom Hearts. I dont know what that means because I dont play video games...but maybe you guys do.

Wait first I need to give the thread some time to forget about all its thread friends, so it can then remember then again, and then can finally be moved to the plugs section.

i agree.  i read an article earlier this week that said that this show was really only about the characters, the mythologies became secondary and, in the end, unimportant.
!!!

Wow.  I would not fuck with you.  You went for the total castration.  Points.

God I wish I could punch people in the face through the internet - Chadd.
