Whiskey And Records (Salteens (MN) Content)
« on: August 30, 2010, 04:08:24 AM »
Many of us know that the song Whiskey And Records from the seminal punk rock record Dream Homes is actually a Salteens cover.

But of those people, there are a good amount that have never heard the original. Where the fuck can I hear it? What album/ep is it on? I'm having no luck.

I didn't think it was a Salteens cover. I think it's whatever band Carrie was in. American something or other. I could be wrong! Who gives a shit!

Mike Milbury's breath probably smells like coffee, pepperoni and Rick Dipietro.

Maybe it's a prophetic statement?
I wish I could get a boner in a church now but then I'd have to go in a church.  I'd love to beat off in a church.

Pretty sure it's not a salteens cover.

The one I'm talking about is a pop band from Canada and they're great.

Yeah it was a Salteens song, not an American Monsters song. There is a recording of it, but it was never released as far as I know

I think I remember reading the Salteens version was on some super short run tape comp of MPLS bands, but I could be wrong.

I know what seminal means. I jokingly put that in there, 'cause everyone is always lapping it's balls (deservedly -- I mean it was my favorite record of last year).

the notion that a person could lap the balls of a record is ridiculous.

It is 100% a Salteens cover. The Mpls band The Slateens was Emily from Cleavland Bound Death Sentance,Maren from The Soviettes,Carrie from the Gateway District, and about a dozen drummers. The song Whiskey and Records was recorded for a demo tape I drew the cover for while hammered. At the time of the recording I think drums were played by a chick named Ed or by Chris from The Strike.

Edit: Also the only two Salteens songs officially released are on the '95 Minneapolis punk comp No Slow...All go!
The songs are "Locked Door"and "My Libido"
