1. sweeney todd soundtrack - by the sea.  i still think this is the best of burton's recent movies, and one of his best overall.  though i like the creepier songs more.
2. toadies - city of hate.  decent, but they have much better
3. new order - atmosphere (live in NYC 2005).  from the show i saw!  so glad they did this song
4. the lonely island - shrooms (interlude).  interlude tracks almost always suck
5. counting crows - have you seen me lately?  i like the live version more
6. mixtapes - the real hotel california.  this is about a billion times better than the eagles song
7. weston  - two.  demo version, not as good as the LP version though.  this has the same bass flub that the first 7" has
8. the ergs! - sneak attack.  fun!
9. mclusky - she will only bring you happiness.  definitely the best song from this LP, and one of their best overall.  and easily the best song ever recorded without bass.  the sex criminal lyric always make me laugh
10. erikson - goodtimes.  the best band full of people i knew in high school.  i wonder what these dudes are up to now
11. REM - sad professor.  so good.  the way he says "i hate how i wound up" is so rough. up is easily the most underrated REM record
12. neutral milk hotel - two headed boy.  pretty neat.
13. orchid - fashion meets passion.  i always liked their last LP best.  no one agrees with me
14. tenement - earwig.  yessssssssssssss
15. the replacements - here comes a regular.  such a good album closer. i get this song in my head a lot
16. the beatles - love me do.  hurrah harmonica
17. the magnetic fields - zebra.  i want a zebraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.  merritt is the best at wordplay
18. bob dylan - isis (live).  not as good as the LP version, but still a super cool story song
19. jawbreaker - million.  love it
20. eels - god's silence.  apparently god's silence involves sound
21. joy division - colony (live).  if i ever somehow have access to a time machine, i'm using it to see joy division live.  the main riff of this song is so damn cool
22. alkaline trio - donner party.  great cannibal song
23. misfits - night of the living dead.  another great cannibal song.  human picnics!
24. green day - see the light.  ehhhhhhhh
25. white zombie - gentleman junkie.  i like the stuff they did with the guitarist after this one more (when it got noisier and weirder) but this is a cool 80s punk song
It's common knowledge that all vampires are Draculas.

the fact that they made it from the cd to my ipod attests to my liking them. the only things from the cd i didn't put on there were the smoking popes and pixies songs because i already had those and the one harvey danger song cuz they just never really did it for me/that one's over five minutes without much going on.
and it feels like punishment, but i don't know what for.

25. Fun Machine - Lost In Glasgow - they were definitely one of the most underrated bands in central jersey. a little too weird for some perhaps, but even if you couldn't get behind everything going on you had to respect each individual member's virtuosity cuz they could all play circles around most on their respective instruments. i miss them a lot.
24. Hub City Stompers - Ska Train To Dorkville
23. House Boat - Now We Are 31 - thanks again for this free cd Grath. been enjoying it a bunch. some of it (this song especially) reminds me of any number of my favorite songs from the Fat comps from the 90's.
22. The Apples In Stereo - Mystery
21. Tom Waits - Big In Japan
20. The Invincible Gods - I Give Up
19. Smokejumper - Good Enough - i'm always curious if the way he says "the thing that i've gotta come to terms with" is a nod to Charlie Brown Gets A Valentine or not. either way it always makes me think of them and smile.
18. Full Of Fancy - L.A., Louisiana - sort of fitting since there's that thread about the dude from Degrassi dying.
17. Minor Threat - Out Of Step With The World
16. The Break Evens - Practical Time Travel
15. Grover Kent - Old Man Conroy - i relate to this song more and more with every passing year, but hated chucks and their lack of arch support for many years before considering myself anywhere near old.
14. N.W.A. - Straight Outta Compton - every time i hear a siren in the distance when i'm walking somewhere i say "you are now about to witness the strength of street knowledge" to myself.
13. Charlie Brown Gets A Valentine - Forget Tonight
14. Hard Skin - Skinhead
13. Hole - Credit In The Straight World - Courtney Love definitely became a train wreck and annoying and all that, but this album will always rule.
12. Van Morrison - Jackie Wilson Said (I'm In Heaven When You Smile)
11. R.E.M. - Losing My Religion
10. Delay - Pizza King & The APD
9. Slumlords - Kids On Ritalin
8. Tom Waits - (Looking For) The Heart Of Saturday Night
7. Tracy Bonham - Meathook
6. Atom & His Package - Meatball - like the two songs in a row that start with meat. i still maintain my belief that my ipod is not only sentient, but has a bit of a sense of humor.
5. Fiona Apple - Shadowboxer
4. The Slackers - Midnight Rendezvous
3. Snuff - It Must Be Boring Being Snuff
2. The Go-Nuts - More Mayo
1. Neko Case - Mood To Burn Bridges
and it feels like punishment, but i don't know what for.

I hit shuffle, while I picked up my son from school, went to the grocery store, and grabbed some Five Guys. There's around 600 songs on my iPod and I got 3 of my own band's, out of maybe 10. That sucks. I don't remember what songs, but I also got:

Thelonious Monk
Screeching Weasel
Phantom Planet
Beatles

Alkaline Trio - The Poison
Bob Dylan - Rainy Day Woman #12 and 35 - ugh.
Hank Williams - They'll Never Take Her Love  From Me - Nothing wrong with it. Kind of a deep cut. I could take it or leave it.
Rocky Reason - Winter Summary - NJ lady rapper. I haven't gotten into this album yet. Pretty cool, though.
They Might Be Giants - Token Back to Brooklyn [demo] - Solid Dial-a-Song demo, with the usual quaint charm.
XTC - Senses Working Overtime - Good song from a super overrated album. Killer chorus.
The Dwarves - Lick It - The early garage rock version of the Dwarves. A total highlight of that era.
Atmosphere - Lyndale Avenue User's Manual - My girlfriend's thing. I haven't listened to these Atmosphere EPs, but this is really good.
Iggy and the Stooges - Gimmie Danger - Killer, killer stuff. Doesn't go on too long, either, like some Stooges stuff does.
The Exploited - Ripper - At this point in my life I could do without Exploited deep cuts, I think.
Groovie Ghoulies - Evading the Greys - Cool change of pace on another great Ghoulies LP.

That was fun.
