I guess the upshot is knowing there are differences between men and women (paradigms). Let's celebrate our new found awareness with some mutton, grog, and silly viking hats.

Yeah I can think of at least 5 different cases of both women and men that I know being raped, and in all of those cases it was never reported.

I have always been kind of(well in later years at least) been quite baffled over how disturbed rapists(and similar) must be and that there are people in the world more disturbed than me.

I have made some observations on this and I think rape and sexual abuse is a subject where there are different reactions and feelings from men and women. I think men tends to be pulled away from the topic, while women seem to "romantacize" it(not postive, but whatever) I think when it comes to the arts, when someone who has been raped or sexual abused and makes a painting alot of women will find it more interesting if it's known that the painter has been through out of sympathy and the fear that it could happen to anyone, whereas men will be more uncomfortable around this. Men, on the other hand, as rape and sexual abuse is something that is around and is impossible to change and well probably is the worst thing you can do to another person, have their own way to deal with it, I think that's why alot of men make rapejokes, maybe because they don't understand it, I don't think anyone thinks rape is funny, NO ONE! but it's just another way to deal with thing and the arts(paintings, music, but also gags and jokes) helps people deal with tihings they can't change or do not fully understand, but also makes these things less of a taboo to talk about so as awful as it is and how disgusted I can get by rapejokes I think it can be bad to underrestimate the role they play in modern society.

Okay, here's a shot.
I really don't give a fuck what you think, man and women are different. Different physiology, different psychology, different interests. I'm not against man being a little more feminine and women being more masculine, but when I go to a date with a girl, even though I'd be pleased when she'd go for her wallet, I'd still prefer to pay for our dinner.
I've seen lots of men torsos at shows, I've never been disgusted or offended with it (though I feel a bit uncomfortable during contact), but I'd probably would have some chills when I'd see a topless girl in a circle pit (those titties just arent made for naked running, huh?).
And talking about jokes. If someone gets offended by jokes - it's only natural. You can't please everyone. To say the least, it's almost the essence of comedy. As far as my observation goes, you laugh the most when someone's stuck in a non laughing matter situation. Not in a cancer way, but in a hit in the nuts kinda way.
And yes I'm a sexist. That doesn't mean I'll beat the shit of my future wife, or put her in kitchen slavery. Or use offensive punch line when I'll try to pick up a girl. And fuck, sometimes girl can be a bitch. If I'd ever call a girl "bitch" that means she deserved it (e.q. how do you call a girlfriend that's been cheating on you?). Beats beating (oops) the shit out of her, right? She can totally use any offensive word when I behave like an asshole.

Question: If you're hanging out and some dude quotes something like, for example, the chappelle rick james sketch, and says something like "I shoulda never given you niggas money!"...does that rub you the wrong way? and do factors like the audience or situation change that?

Just curious.

I haaaaaaate the word "nigga."  A couple of nights ago, I was coming home on the train, and this (african-american) gentlemen was sitting real close to me telling his buddy a story and using that word literally every three to four words.  I kept thinking that if I said that word to him once he'd probably rip my face off.
I've been really into getting a pair of boat shoes.

going back to the whole shirtless dudes and feeling unsafe/uncomfortable thing i just realized there were a buttload of hot basement and court tavern ergs shows back around i'm guessing 2004 or so that involved a bunch of dudes dancing around in their boxers (and a few in briefs) i don't recall if lauren was in attendance at any, but now feel really bad about it beyond the normal guilt i feel when i subject others to my gelatinous physique.
and it feels like punishment, but i don't know what for.

i guess it's hard to pick up on how the delivery of things sounds in my head when typed. i should have put quotes or something maybe. i don't genuinely feel bad about it. it was more of a "well if no shirts evokes terror how bad must have that been?'' sort of thing. followed by my typical self deprication "humor" about my obesity.
and it feels like punishment, but i don't know what for.

And for some reason, here is Mariel Candy Hearts opinion on all of this:

http://www.punknews.org/article/42266

Don't be a dick. It's not for "some reason." I was asked to write it so I did.

The people who are making fun of Lauren should be ashamed of themselves. She's a person with real feelings. Why would you be such dicks, especially about how she looks? What does that have to do with anything?

I enjoyed reading what she said more. I'd say if the "sing it again naked" was a joke I don't think it's a bad thing, but the guitar thing is awful, if this is a specific producer I think this guy should get puked on. Did she badmouth her own bandmates or did I missunderstand?

Hi guys, to clarify because apparently everyone thinks I am an idiot and making this up, I was working with someone who wasn't in my band, and yes, he fucking said that, and yes more than once, and yes I stopped working with him after the few initial comments.

The guitar thing is more like even if I'm not the best studio musician, why do I get undermined on my OWN record that has nothing to do with the man who is helping me produce it.  It's not like my bandmates were saying no we'd rather have a cleaner sound. I was working alone.

You guys sure know how to make someone feel special. This has been plaguing me for a week, and all did was write it because I am a writer and because I was asked :(

Why are you having a pity party under a quote of someone who said they liked what you wrote?

It's such a bad problem that girls can't even get their own guitar out of a van without being attacked.

Excuse me asshole, but if you were a 100lb girl walking alone at 2am in a bad part of Baltimore you would feel fucking unsafe.  You would feel unsafe if you were a dude too, but just the fact that girls are usually smaller makes them much more vulnerable. STFU.

Because i linked the wrong quote. I've just been getting slammed all weeked and I'm pretty sick of it. I just said what I felt, I don't give a fuck if it was my personal experience. I only used my personal experience because I don't want to make huge generalizations, and I don't give two shits if it had more to do with "society in general" because everything has to do with society in general.

I'm just pissed off.

And you call all say I'm PMSing, because yeah, probably am.

It is sexist. And I also enjoy men without shirts, if they are hot. Just don't be rubbin your sweaty man boobs on me!
