Sounds like you're the one with the fetish, pal.

A frat boy fetish.

Wait, but that would make him a fa-  Wow.

My mind is blown. No wonder he's always frantically searching for boobies with his male "buddy" at the Gathering, or parroting anti-gay WorldNetDaily talking points, or grooming his pedigreed potbelly pig.

That's kinda cute, Mike. Come on out, it's cool.

Everything you said

Morgue, I don't even think we're arguing because I agree with most of what you're saying but I don't feel awake enough to respond competently so it will have to wait until tomorrow.

Suffice to say, I think you're being a bit too hard on the form and maybe projecting some of your own ideas on what stand up is and can be. No offense.

See guys. Right here we have Lushman and Larry calling me a fag because of something I said. This is how things work in the world.

i had the same feelings about the first one as chadd mentioned- the first one wasnt offensive to me i just didnt find it relatable. i just felt kinda bad for the guy and thought all his dude friends were mean and repressed.

i liked the louis ck bit better. ive liked a lot of his stand up.

ive always understood the word fag to be an insult, with it's origin being a derogatory word for gay people. i mean, i know now its origin isnt actually that, but thats how i learned of it when i was a kid. so yeah i mean, i never really got into it, it was always a bad word- like "nigger"- even though it was used more commonly. ive dropped it a few times in the past and then just felt really stupid and wrong afterwards.

Um, we do?  Can you show us exactly where I called you a fag?  Because I've only made two posts in this thread, I just went back and looked at both of them, and neither contains the word fag or anything resembling it.

All I did was make the obvious inference from your statement "Punk is a frat for ugly people."

Then in case anyone was left in doubt about your meaning, you yourself came back and said "Of course frat guys are better looking."

Well, it may come as news to you, but your tastes in male beauty, while not uncommon, are far from universal.  Many people, myself included, find frat boys to be not only the dumbest, but also the ugliest people on campus.  If not in town.

But hey, you're entitled to see it differently.  Just don't get all defensive and bent out of shape when someone repeats your own opinion, i.e., that you find frat boys more attractive than punk guys.

Comedy is a great way to disarm the feelings attached to ugly words. It can also work the opposite way, but I'm certain that the majority of the time the former is more true than the latter.

Larry, you know what you were implying whether you said the word or not. You implied the same thing most of my friends would say if I said one type of dude was more attractive than another type of dude. We all know what attractive means and what ugly means. But admitting that makes our friends call us faggots. That's what his whole bit was.

Sorry, I didn't watch the video, and I don't have any friends that call each other fags.

Nor did I call you a fag.

I simply remarked on what you said in your own words: that you think frat guys are good looking.

That seems worth remarking on if only because a lot of people, myself included, find frat guys in general to be ugly.  Obviously you feel differently.

I couldn't get through the Bill Burr mostly because I wanted to see the guy in action and not just stare at what amounted to a boring graphic. Also 5 minutes is a long time to sit and listen. But from what I heard I was not too impressed.

I checked out the Louis CK video and did find that more enjoyable. Being 2 minutes and actually getting to see the comedian in action sucked me in enough to allow me to get through the whole thing - and it was pretty good.

If this is the best stand-up comedy you've seen it must mean you haven't seen much stand-up comedy, not that I have. Larry was funny in this thread.

As for punk being a frat for ugly people... its all affected, it's all affected, it's all affected by you!

I never said frat guys are good looking. I said punks are ugly and that frat guys are better looking. A small, but real, distinction

But I'm pretty sure that your response to my saying that punk is like a frat for ugly people is implying that I'm a fag. And I'm pretty sure everyone would agree with me. In fact, I'll ask for a response from readers. Is Larry pretty much calling me a fag?

Wait, so frat boys are what Blackandgold thinks of as good-looking?

Well, that certainly explains, er.... something.

Sounds like you're the one with the fetish, pal.

And we can throw in Lushman's comment for good measure.

Of course. But you can judge groups. For instance, I could say that cheerleaders are hotter than soccer players and you would understand what I mean. Frat dudes are clearly more attractive than punks. Same with soriety chicks. Most music driven subcultures are an excuse for people who are ugly and wierd to feel like they belong to something and that they're superior to others. It's the same mentality that drives organizations like frats for popular college students or volunteer fire departments for working class white dudes.

Here's the difference between me and b&g. If I say, "hey, you seem to like men a lot," it's not meant as an insult or a reason to be defensive. If b&g says, "hey, you seem to like men a lot," he means it as a bad thing, or as something to be defensive about. I literally do not care who you fuck, or even if you like to fuck. I'm not gonna be fucking you, so that's about where my interest ends.

Of course, in this thread, I was just continuing the joke that Larry started. I thought the part about his pig being a pedigreed pot belly was funny. Hey, someone has to smile at my jokes, it may as well be me. Tough crowd, tough crowd...

Re: comedy, I think people who go to comedy clubs often laugh out of nervousness, and then relief when/if the comedian is actually funny. I haven't gone to many comedy clubs though, so I'm not being definitive. I like a lot of standup, but I'm also really into punny humor so it takes lot for a rambler like David Cross or Eddie Izzard or Patton Oswalt to make me love them (and I love all of those comedians' acts).

Nuff of this, I'll take it to the standup thread and get beat down by the comedy connoisseurs over there. Nothing an Ashland Elbow can't fix!

As a broad generalization and pertaining to the traditional "bombshell" look, I guess. It definitely makes me feel uncomfortable to make such a generalization though, to the point I wouldn't consider it effective to bring up in conversation as a means to express whatever it was I was trying to say.

Or you might not be as comfortable with relying on stereotypes as b&g is. Take your pick.

No, I mean it the same way you do, except I'm being friendly when I say it. Why do you think I care who anybody fucks beyond the humor that might come from it?

Ha ha ha... okay, I'm gonna stop sniping at b&g for tonight. I almost feel bad because I don't read what he posts, just what other people quote from his posts.

Plus, seeing hasblueshoes start in on johnnyb in that hilarious Phrank meme thread was a bummer since it didn't have anything to do with the thread, and I realized I was doing something close to that here. Doh!

If you think punk is "a frat for ugly people," it seems pretty obvious that you also think the inverse, that a frat is a place for non-ugly, i.e., good-looking people.  I'm simply saying that I find that viewpoint remarkable.  That fact that you find frat boys attractive doesn't necessarily mean you're gay, but it does mean you have some pretty weird taste in dudes, because I don't think most people here find frat boys attractive.

And the only reason I mentioned a "frat boy fetish" is because you suggested that anyone who finds punks more attractive than frat boys must have a fetish.  Well, if that's true, then surely someone who finds frat boys more attractive must also have a fetish.  Why are you having such a problem with simple logic?

Juggalos are way more open minded and friendly than punks. They just exclude you based on one thing, if you make fun of ICP. As long as you're a fan of ICP or a related act, Juggalos will accept you as one of their own. Punks will exclude you for 1000 different reasons.

A fetish is when you find something sexually attractive that is outside the normal cultural bounds of attractiveness. Frat boys are inside the bounds. Dudes who haven't showered in three days are outside the bounds.
