i wasnt that into the episode.  it was OK.  the comments section skit had potential but didn't quite make it.  the HPV vaccine doll was the best

The comments sketch seemed like they came up with the idea at the last minute and didnt really have time to flesh it out. That doll was great! I'm also a sucker for people falling down stairs so I enjoyed the Lulu Diamond sketch.

I ditched the episode right before the second band segment.  It was entertaining but the host seems to be working the, "Look at me!  I'm being zany and wildly exaggerating everything I do!  Watch me make out with this balloon horse and pretend to drink a bottle of ranch dressing!", angle and it gets really old really fast.
Wait until you figure out how to microwave carrots and spoon them jam-style into your own asshole.

as much as i love alec baldwin i wasn't super impressed with the season opener. though i will say the "Who's On Top" game show sketch from it was pretty great. "yes, but you forget girard depardieu is french".

i enjoyed the melissa mccarthy episode, but like folks have said lady antebellum sucks and i really wish they'd put the lawrence welk openings with wiig as the deformed fourth sister to rest.
and it feels like punishment, but i don't know what for.

ever since the advent of weekly digital shorts and cast members like fred armisen, jason sudeikis, keenan thompson, vanessa bayer, etc. it's been pretty uproarious. i really don't understand not only how people couldn't think so, but especially how people could think it was funnier ten years ago when hacks like jimmy fallon were chewing up scenery.

Watched the Alec Baldwin one last night; that was pretty good.  Got about halfway through the Melissa McCarthy one before falling asleep.  Hey, did you guys know that Melissa McCarthy is fat?  Did you know that fat people love food and hate to dance?  Jesus fucking christ.

Yeah, he's awesome. Same with Vanessa Bayer. I was really surprised that there were no new featured players and that neither Samberg or Wiig jumped ship this season.

But yeah, this episode was awesome. Melissa McCarthy was fucking hilarious.

I actually thought she was fairly funny, but I like "I'm a fat" person humor about as much as I like "I'm a ____" humor from anyone, which is to say not very much.  I also thought she got a little too "Mad TV" for her own good in skits like that one where she's in the office and gets the balloons.  Like, for fuck's sake lady, save the crotch grab and the boobie honk for LATER in the skit!  I know you want your live studio audience to fill the black hole in your soul just like we all do, but, shit, come on.

I tried watching a few sketches but had to keep changing the channel because they seemed to be just drawn out, unfunny fat jokes.

i really wish they'd put the lawrence welk openings with wiig as the deformed fourth sister to rest.
They're still doing these?

I was with you until Vanessa Bayer. I love the veterans from this cast but I'm really not into the new people at all. I don't think she's very good and I don't think the black guy who only does Denzel and Will Smith is very good.

The weird thing about "SNL hasn't been funny in X years..." is that, even in the 70s, a lot of the shows were 70% crap. I've watched entire episodes where I didn't recognize one thing in terms of famous skits. I don't think that is too off from today, especially since a lot of the skits go viral.

I think his impressions are excellent, but he's going to run out of black dudes to impersonate real fast and it doesn't seem like he knows what to do other than that. Or the show doesn't know what to do with him.

I think all the other featured people are really, really good. They'll still have a good cast next year when they inevitably loose Jason Sudeikis, Kristen Wiig, and Andy Samberg. Also Kenan Thompson, Bill Hader, Seth Meyers, and Fred Armisen have been on for a pretty long time. I'm not sure they'll leave after this year, but it'll be sooner rather than later.

You sure about that?

I also think that black dudes impressions are good, but that's all he's been good for..
