Yah, I am looking forward to ours, but adding that to our schedule will mean that Friday is the only day of the week where we're not busy at night after work. Which is shitty.

I was nervous about going to shows while being pregnant but I went to a dead mechanical show tonight and the little thing is still alive and moving around.  Hopefully he/she doesn't come out deaf.

Also, I'm a weirdo because I'm paranoid about everything.

I was worried about the same thing. There is a show here coming up I'd like to go to, but I was kind of worried about the volume. I'm sue it will be okay though.

It was also funny to try to look up any information on it, because all I could find was women saying things like "I'm pregnant, not dead!" as if the concern had anything to do with them having fun.

I was mostly looking for info on if I should be drumming, and (of course) that isn't out there, but based on the recommendation that if you use headphones on your stomach it's just supposed to be at a normal/comfortable volume, I am skipping drumming, which is sad.

There is no noise loud enough that is gonna hurt your belly babies, ladies. Honestly, you could probably be hit with a sound so loud it killed you and your baby would be fine inside.

Jenna went to as many shows as possible before popping. Now olive sings and drums and plays every kind of instrument possible. Don't deny your babies the rock!!

Yah, that's all I could find when I was looking for any actual science/evidence, people saying they did whatever and their babies are fine. And lots of people go to shows without ear plugs and are alright, but yah, still would be nice to hear from some kind of expert.

Why would earplugs is mom's ears even factor into this concern?!?!

i didn't read every sentence in this article, but it pretty much indicates that loud noise can lead to issues if the baby is exposed to it on a consistent basis, not a once in a while experience like going to a show

my wife and i went to a bunch of shows while she was pregnant, and we were way more concerned about someone running/falling into her than the noise...don't worry about it

Thanks for the article, that was the kind of thing I was looking for. Except it this was one of the main conclusions:
"Pediatricians are encouraged to consider screening for noise-induced hearing loss those infants who were exposed to excessive noise in the uterus or as a newborn. Occupational sources of such noise include jobs in which women are required to wear protective hearing devices. Environmental sources of such noise include rock concerts, boom boxes in cars, and airport jet traffic.

But really, it would be pretty impossible to always avoid "a noise level exceeding 45 dB."
Going to the movies is much louder than that even.

Haha, I think she meant generally that there are people who go to shows without earplugs and don't have hearing loss.
I'll admit to using jabs like hippie, bleeding hearts, and social science majors, in my posts.

i saw that down there, and obviously there is some degree of risk, even if it is minimal, involved even in a one time occurrence...however, since the rest of the article and the studies it cited really focused prolonged/regular exposure, i kind of took that as being for a woman who may work in a club or be on tour constantly...i realize that you may sort of fall into this category by being a drummer, so you should do what makes you feel comfortable and feels right for you and you little one

We're redoing our floors before the baby comes.  We live in a house built in the late 1800s or early 1900s and the wood floors are in really bad shape.  Lucas and I have both gotten splinters just walking around.  Boards are loose and cracked.  It's a mess.  The floors upstairs are a little better off so we're carpeting over them.  I think today we chose a grey color but I'm starting to reconsider.  Lucas doesn't want a beige, which is probably what I would have chosen.

Is grey carpeting awful?  It's a lighter, bluer, grey.  We're not locked in yet.

It depends on the grey, but bluish grey could be really nice.

Any good resources for fluoride and babies? She's getting to the conventional age to start using fluoride toothpaste, but I'd like to read up on it first.

I have that colour (grey, off to the blue/cooler side) and I love it, would do it again. But I am not a beige person either I guess. There are some colours that are right between beige and grey that might be good too though?

We still have Olive on the training stuff because we can't stop her from eating it.

Colleen, grey carpet is not awful or anything, but I generally lean toward warmer colors on the floor.

I had a bluish gray carpet in my bedroom for about 20 years.

This color:

I liked it.

My mom has a green speckled berber that has looked awesome for the past 12 years. I would not go with grey unless it was really dark, maybe? That baby will spill so much shit, and you will not be psyched.

I was the pregnant model for the new med students learning how to ultrasound.  I made it through another ultrasound without finding out the sex, hooray!  Apparently the baby has hair!  I kind of expected to have a bald baby, although lucas came out with a full head of hair.

Oh wow that is rad! So cute.
I am going to have a 'no intern' rule at my delivery. Or at least for doing anything potentially painful. My OB always has a student with him, and the hospital I'm going to has a big intern program. I am alright with it on a normal day, but I know I won't have patience for it at the time.

I just drank the glucola for the gestational diabetes screen.  All my patients tell me it's horrible but I don't think it's that bad.

I don't understand the people that are gagging and need 5 minutes to get it down. The orange one tasted like those little barrel drinks.

I had trouble choking it down, but then, I usually dilute my fruit juice with water by 60-70%.

Baby Brother has hair, too!  I know this time not to get too attached, though.  Olive had a pretty good amount of dark hair when she was born, but it all fell out and she was pretty much bald for like a year!

I've had a decent amount of heartburn, nothing too bad, but I pop a dose of tums daily.  That glucola gave me heartburn, although I thought it tasted fine.
