i wanna up my cardio so i was thinking of maybe getting into some jiu-jitsu or kickboxing classes. i think i'm a glutton for punishment.

down 14.5 lbs since Jan 2!

I'm in the gym six nights a week. I've been eating more protein daily than I probably have in all my life. I can't wait to look like the Body Ric Martel.

Not really. You are a nerd. A warm, welcoming, energizing place full of vibrant, helpful people and dynamic personalities looking to interact with you on a social level would be rather agonizing, I am sure. I personally wouldn't know, as I am one of the others, as you nerds often refer to us.

It will be a great experience. The gym is a wonderful place. You will have a blast.

I was serious at the end! The gym is a wonderful place full of kind, welcoming, helpful people. You will feel silly later for being apprehensive.

Of course, I am basing this on the Midwest, a place that is already wonderful and full of kind, welcoming, helpful people. I have no reason to believe New York gyms will be anything like this. I am picturing weights crafted out of piles of trash, and Guido mouthbreathers cat calling everyone.

It's just been a long time since I've gone to the gym - when I dropped off my new member paperwork all of the people there were super nice and helpful! I just don't want to eat it on the treadmill or accidentally go in the boys locker room or something.

It can be intimidating when you haven't been in forever. You'd be surprised how willing people are to be helpful. Also, you're never the only n00b.
