what happens to Miguel Cabrera now?
Like, the male animals should be made to wear skirts and wigs and stuff, and the females should go past a line of builders who make cat-calls at them and whistle loudly in their direction.

i still wish the nats had thrown stupid money at fielder.  woulda been sweet to have another big bat in the lineup!

That's crazy talk.  He would have caused a huge log jam five years from now.  Signing Fileder would have been good for the Nats for a few years but not signing him will help the Nats over the next ten years.  He would have been to the Nats what Ovie will be for the Caps for the next seven years, only fatter.

Care to elaborate?

Gets drafted by the Red Sox in the second round straight out of High School. First year in the minors does okay, not up to potential. Gets a physical- has leukemia. He then spent the next 2ish years fighting it, and beating it. Then he got traded to the Padres, and now the Cubs. I really hope he makes it.

I wonder how much he makes every time he strikes out with the bases loaded.

Interestingly enough, he's #2 on the all time grand slams list.
last time i got the sausage at citi i took a bite and juice went all over my shorts.

Hmmm...that totally sucks he had leukemia, but is awesome he beat it! Other than that, getting shuffled around from organization to organization as a minor leaguer is pretty typical. Kid is a stud and should be a future all-star in the Majors. He'll be fine. Stoked the Cubs got him!

Yeah, I was mostly talking about the Leukemia. Getting diagnosed with that at the age of 18 is pretty brutal.

Did Duncan leave with the departure of LaRussa? If so, I can see why the Cards would be trying to dump Loshe and Westbrook. They are mediocre at best without a good pitching coach to follow.

well, looks like nothing is confirmed yet, but a few of the cards big writer yesterday were mentioning that the cards and orioles were in the process of developing a trade.

no, his wife is battling cancer and he wanted to spend more time with her during the treatment. he wasn't with the team all of august and september last year because of it.

Nats just signed Edwin Jackson to a 1 year deal worth between 8-12 million.  The Nats starting rotation now looks like this:

Strasburg
Gio Gonzalez
Jordan Zimmerman
Edwin Jackson
John Lannan/Wang/Ross Detwiler

I suspect Lannan will be traded away now that he's through with his arbitration.  I know I'm living in a fantasy world when I say this, but I could see them throwing together a package of Lannan and some of their young talent and making an offer for McCutchen.  It would take a lot to pry McCutchen from the Pirates, but the Nats are deep enough now that they could do it.

Lannan is my favorite pitcher in the MLB. I hit a double against him when I played against him when I was in high school.

That's awesome.

I love Lannan  but I don't see him making the starting rotation for the Nats.  It boggles my mind to think that he was the starting pitcher for the Nats in 2009 and now he won't even crack the #5 spot, and he's a much better pitcher now than he was 2 years ago.

Well with the Nats getting better its a good thing. I hope he lands somewhere good and has a big year.
