Yes good call!

You going to the Milkboy gig? I'm pretty excited for that, to hear these songs live is gonna be awesome, but moreso to actually meet Craig in a less "crazed" atmosphere than the typical HS gig. You should bring that up!

I didn't hear it until 2012, even though it came out late in 2011, but the Black Keys' El Camino is really good.  It's no Rubber Factory or Brothers, but it has tons or replay value.

I still have not gotten GbV's Let's Go Eat the Factory because I was sort of let down by the few times I played the preview of the album on NPR's website.  I'm hoping to wait a while and re-discover it, hopefully to a better reception.  I'm so bummed out by this.

Some douche will make another thread in a few weeks because they can't find this one, but here we go, cause I've already started on some new music.

Cloud Nothings - Attack On Memory

As uneven as their previous outings.  There are some epic noisy jams, and there are awesome indie pop/rock nuggets. File this under Won't Win Any New Fans.  Not too bad, though.

Just got this. Highly enjoyed. I was already a fan, fwiw.

the new leonard cohen record is surprisingly good!  i'd say it's his best in 10 years, but i think that would just mean it's better than his last album

This got "Best New Music" from Pitchfork, so that statement will not be true. But you're right about the record itself.

i'd never heard this band before this thread, but Attack on Memory is awesome.

My main problem is they throw everything against the wall, and not all of it sticks.  The 8+ minutes of blah rock just seems like a waste when followed by the 3 minute nugget that follows.  I guess I have a problem with the sequence too (assuming I'm listening in the correct order).

I want bands that have sugar in the SONGWRITING, but GRIT in the production and presentation.

anyone who has ever liked leonard cohen before...check out the new album.  it's actually got acoustic guitars and piano and no shitty casio drumbeats!

The Dopamines "Vices" is probably my favorite right now. Their best stuff in my opinion.

I need to give that new Delay record and Sonic Avenues record spins as well. I have a feeling that they might make my list.

All I've heard from this year so far is the Fear of Lipstick record and it's pretty great. On a par with their last album. Some real hits on there.

First Aid Kit album is great.  Really enjoyed the earlier singles and have been chomping at the bit for more, so I'm glad this shit delivers.  Surprise cameo at the end, even!
