Eh fuck fast. I enjoy the process of cooking and timing a bunch of things at once

I agree about the timing; that is the fun part. It's actually pretty impressive to start a bunch of dishes two to three hours earlier and have them all done at once.

However, I don't necessarily think it's about "fast." It's more about ease. Yeah, a French fry cutter is fast, but cutting up multiple potatoes into fry shape is just cumbersome. The result is the same.

"Fuck fast" is a luxury for people who aren't juggling a schedule full of jobs/classes/kids/etc.

I picked up a food mill since it was ten bucks off at the store today. Maybe I'll use it more than once or twice.

Not really. Both my parents worked ~60 hours a week while raising my sisters and I and they both still made dinner from scratch every other night. It was important to them for us to eat good food and know how to cook so they made it a point to show us the hows when's and whys of cooking.

It's my number one complaint about people who don't cook. You can make so much food in under an hour. A half hour even. Ten minutes prep, twenty cooking is a million things. I even have time to check Facebook in between things.

That might explain why every time you talk about clothes, my vagina fills with sand.

I didn't say I don't cook, I said garlic presses are fast and easy and fast and easy is what I need.  You look real impressive up there on your high horse, though.

I don't think that was a personal attack, Jenna.

We cook from scratch almost every night as well, but sometimes those little time savers are actually life savers.  My aunt always says she doesn't have time to cook, which is amazing because she works 8-4 and her kid is 13.  Eric's parents say the same thing, but they are retired and never leave the living room except to walk the dog.

Get off your high horse!

Yeah, I'll never believe people don't have time. If you priortise other things, that's totally cool, but it's easy to find half an hour.

It usually takes more time than half an hour to make a decent dinner.

In Re Timing Dinner: I love that shit!  Back when I used to have Wednesday Feast, I'd be cooking for three hours or so, making a full three course meal with all sorts of sides and bread.  It was so glorious to have it all timed out properly, I got really good at it, too.  My skills are a bit rusty now since I never cook anything that elaborate anymore since I rarely have more than an hour to really work on dinner.

I chop garlic most of the time because I like controlling the size of it, plus I like chopping stuff.  I'll use the press or the jarred stuff if I am using the garlic in a marinade though.

Jarred garlic is insanely cheap, I find. It's no more expensive than buying garlic fresh. I have both in the house, just in case.

From scratch? I've never tried, but I think it takes about a little longer than hamburgers!

Jarred garlic sounds like it could be the grossest thing ever.

It's just garlic. Useful if you don't have a food processor or whatever and want a garlic paste.

I always want the size super small.  I love the flavor of garlic but hate chunks of it in stuff.  Another reason the garlic press is awesome.  Pulverize!

I really, really like thin slices of browned garlic. I could eat those forever.

I'm more of a roasted garlic mush spread on things girl, myself.

My cousin bought me this countertop hot plate-ish/stove-y thing, and at first I was like "Gee, thanks for totally wasting $30 on me," but, fuck, this thing is wonderful!  Burgers!  Pancakes!  Peppers!  And no one uses it but me, so it's actually clean all the time!  Hooray!!!!!!!!!!
I've been really into getting a pair of boat shoes.

I'm loving Grath's passive aggressiveness.

One time, I roasted an entire head of garlic and just ate all the cloves in one go. What a day.
