Would it have been different if she had a wall post reading "THERE ARE BEARS IN MY YARD" and her and I conversed through public comments and it was posted here?  Like I had said, nothing was said that needed to be private.  Chances are if it was on her wall and she told me to fuck off and said she was a cop, someone here would have thought it was funny and posted it.

And then when that doesn't work and the person can't feel all self-satisfied for doing the absolute bare minimum to 'help' someone, he decides to do the opposite? Fuck that. Who did this? I think the guy genuinely had good intentions (he mentioned that his mom suffered from a similar condition), but it was a really really inappropriate thing to do.

I mean maybe this is just me, but I really do think there was a transition where we went from laughing at a couple who fought in public, and who were both a little crazy in the way they handled their relationship, to it being a woman who is literally mentally ill.  Unlike other people, I honestly don't think we spent that whole time laughing at a woman with mental problems.  At least, that's not how I saw it.  Just kind of a kook and a psycho girlfriend type.  Then it got worse, and soon after that happened, the thread got taken down.  Makes sense to me.

The point I was trying to make is, in my opinion there's a big difference between "haha look at this wackadoo weirdo fighting with her boyfriend" and "haha look at this genuinely mentally ill person as she slowly becomes completely unhinged".  That line was crossed and the nature of the thread changed.  I have no problem with the decision, at that point, to remove it.

The texts in question were the ones where she thought Nick was her aunt or something.  Also, going to the same high school 10 odd years apart and never meeting in real life doesn't qualify as knowing each other to me.

What about that one dude that posted that girl's insane myspace blog posts? Everybody really yucked it up to her without worrying what she might have thought. I don't see much difference.

I think it just took a while for people to realize how mentally ill she was.  It doesn't change the fact that that thread was built around laughing at her (as well as her fights with Mark).  She was mentally ill that whole time.  Now the thread's gone and this change of heart thing, with people collectively chiding this guy for doing something that (in the grand scheme of that thread) was really not a big deal is kind of gross.
