So like um....fuuu...um...I need to get a set or board or the pogs or whatever it is needed to play this game.  I suspect some of you "cool" guys might be able to give me some tips on what to get or whatever.  thanks

Just download the books as PDFs, and get a big board that has a grid, and you can use wet erase or dry erase markers on it. you can use anything as tokens for the characters.

Nerd alert:

Is there a way to get a D+D game going online? That would be fun. (I haven't played since I was 12 and I don't think I ever played by all the real rules, but I think it could be rad.)

I would suggest not buying any of the 4th Edition manuals.  4th Edition is, in my opinion, not very good, and 5th Edition will be released in the next year.  If you want to buy something now, I would recommend the Player's Handbook, Dungeon Master's Guide, and Monster Manual for 3.5 Edition.  I think 3.5 Edition is the best edition of the game, and those books are all you would need to play.  You can find them here:

http://www.amazon.com/Dungeons-Dragons-Players-Handbook-Rulebook/dp/0786928867
http://www.amazon.com/Dungeon-Masters-Guide-Rulebook-Dungeons/dp/0786928891/ref=pd_vtp_b_1
http://www.amazon.com/Monster-Manual-Rulebook-Dungeons-Dragons/dp/078692893X/ref=pd_vtp_b_1

Oh, you will also need at least one of each of the following:

20-sided die
12-sided die
10-sided die
8-sided die
6-sided die
4-sided die

Here is a pack:

The miniatures aren't a necessity, but they sure look cool.

yeah with virtual table it's definitely possible.  hell, you don't even really need that it just makes the map layout easier.  with google+ hangouts and webcams in every computer, you could have a DM control the physical board and move players while everyone else video chatted in.

I've never bought D&D minis before, but I think they come in randomly assorted boxes, like Heroclix.  If you want to buy minis individually, though, this is a good place:

3.5 is the best!  You don't have to write a campaign if you don't want to write one.  Just take Jenny and me through the Temple of Elemental Evil or some shit.

We're starting a club here in Buffalo.  I'm a total novice though.

You're free to come up on Sundays, Rally.
I think we can all agree that Ryan Bonehead has a moustache problem and is terrible at drinking.
