I was just thinking, what other stuff should pop punk bands cover?
Naturally other than the obvious issue of girlfriend/boyfriend and friends and personal frustrations, I think pop punk bands should cover other stuff as well.
I've noticed that some bands cover stuff like food (Descendents, Undertones), B-grade horror movies (Groovie Ghoulies) and some cover stuff like video games, the internet, personal anxieties, Star Trek (Screeching Weasel), the scene (Jawbreaker) , etc.
I don't know if pop punk should cover politics, considering that many punk bands from many punk subgenres cover politics, but I guess they should take a stand on their songs such as gay rights, vegetarianism, etc and present it from a personal point of view like Goldfinger.
I'm thinking of writing a tribute song on Coverse shoes as well.
So naturally, other than the usual songs about relationships, personal struggles and daily life, what other things do pop punk bands need to cover?
