IGN's 10 Great Punk Rock Singers

Pretty generic list for the most part. I didn't expect to see Chad Price or Ari Katz on there.
But really, how respectable or legit can anything be without blowjobs?

Well, IGN isn't really a likely candidate for authority on punk rock. Video games, maybe. Punk rock, no.

That's true, but it's almost like 'why bother?'

It's weird Chad Price made it and Milo didn't.

At least it says "great singers" and not "greatest" - so there is room for debate.

i find it odd that mike kirsch, the dude from pegboy, chuck ragan/chris wollard aren't on anywhere on there. the gruff punk thing has been the biggest punk thing in, what, the last 10 years or so.

but kirsch in fuel/colbom/pinheadgunpowder influenced so many of current band's vocal stylings; not in the same way as blake i'd say. similar, but not nearly as gruff. chuck ragan in the same way, to a degree.

Joey Ramone was good. I never had heard of Ari Katz before.  The Bad Brains dude was "punk" for about 10 minutes back before a lot of you were born, and as for most of those other guys, meh.

Ok, Johnny Rotten belongs on any list like this, and maybe the guy from the Damned, but what about Joe Strummer, one of the most instantly recognizable voices in music.

And compared with Jesse Michaels, guys like Rollins and that dude from All (any dude from All, actually) are annoying fratboys.

At least it says "great singers" and not "greatest" - so there is room for debate.

At the beginning of the article it says "best."

i think they tried to cover the gruff stuff with blake

Blake's a nice guy and a fine singer, but Jawbreaker is nowhere near important enough a band for him to have a shot at this list.  And although they've sold a shit ton more records, neither is All.

I've been searching for a new place to stay, but it's been tough to find a place in my price range that will allow a pig.

Frat dudes are clearly more attractive than punks.

Lifetime is one of those bands I tried getting into, but i could not. I'd probably like it more if I listened to it in Middle School.

i liked them a lot in HS, and they were always playing around here.  they haven't aged well.  when they reunited, i realized i didn't actually like them anymore

I think they're more of a regional thing.  I never knew anyone in California or England that listened to them.  In fact I never even heard of them till I moved to New York.

when i was a teenager, lifetime was the poppy band it was OK for hardcore kids to like.  the same kids that made fun of mid-90s fat wreck bands.  i guess they never noticed that lifetime sounded just like one.

I like Lifetime, but they are one of the most overrated bands around. KD is way better. But that's a different argument.

They cite "Recipe For Hate" for Graffin?!

And Rollins?  Terrible singer.  Isn't Lifetime's singer the weak link?

Yes to H.R. and Lydon and Danzig and Joey.  Jake Burns is a glaring omission.  And not a single female?  Bunk list.

How is Jello Biafra nowhere on this?
I feel like that's a gimme even for people not in the know.
I watch a lot of movies...
