The Lillingtons have been wanting to get give BCB a reboot and it's finally happening this Spring.  New art, new mastering job, etc.  From the website:

Quote
In other good Ramonesy news, we’re happy to announce that we’ll be doing something (kinda) new with our old friends, The Lillingtons. We’ve teamed up with those lovable hermits to bring you an updated version of their criminally-underrated album, The Backchannel Broadcast. It’s getting a major facelift: new artwork and an up-to-date mastering job by original producer, Mass Giorgini. That will also be available on iTunes/Spotify/Amazon on March 6th and we’re taking pre-orders for the CD now. It won’t be in stores until April-ish, but don’t let that stop you from peeping the new and improved cover art below:

It'll be up on iTunes, etc on 3/6.  Pre-order that shit here:

backed, but for the love of god please put this and DBT out on vinyl!
i've been "violated" with a finger before and i didn't find it painful or revolting, just shocked that it was happening when it happened.

Yeah, I agree.  It was done by Zach, who is like the mysterious 4th Lillington.  He also did the art for "Too Late Show" too.

Yeah, and it's got "Wait it Out" on it, too.

I never once thought that this album could use a new master, but whatever!  If this leads to a "Death By Television" reissue on vinyl, I'd be very pleased!

The CD had Wait It Out also  ???

Yeah, I didn't mean to imply it was a vinyl-only bonus track.  I meant that the original Backchannel Broadcast had another song, which for some reason is not on the reissue!

I have some ideas.  But does anybody know for sure?  Was it the band's decision or was it Toby's?  Or was it a little of both?

I have to admit I have no idea about the mechanics of this kind of situation, but can that happen?  It was on the original album and as long as they pay royalties I figured the songwriter wouldn't have much of a say in what happens for future reissues.

Yeah, but the songwriter can also say that it can't be released for whatever reason.

It was the culmination of a lot of things that led to the CD re-issue.  The CD was outta stock, they had art ideas, etc.

Funny people talk about LPs.  Lookout had so much stock and it was going nowhere that much of it was destroyed.  That's before vinyl collecting was so stylish though...

I think a DBTV LP would be the next logical project.  The band didn't really seem to care about it that much and the next thing we wanted to do is a re-stock of "Too Late Show" actually.  More of those should be available in April.

Trust me, I try and get these guys to do all sortsa stuff, but they work in mysterious ways.  Always have!

It was not my call to remove "Wait It Out".

'wait it out' was by far the best song on this album.

Good song, but it didn't at all vibe with the theme and spirit of the record.  Kinda weak that Riverdales used it too, but it probably belonged there in the first place.

"Russians Are Coming" is the best song anyhow...

It's been 10 years or so since it came out and sometimes things can be improved upon.  We needed a new production master anyhow and everyone was super happy with how it came out, so fuck it.

i was just recalling how dumb i thought it was that weasel and queers remixed all their old shit.... it was like george lucas putting cgi into the old star war movies 25 years later.

i was actually ok with the Banner Pilot resignation day remix, surprisingly... but after a while that shit gets pointless.  i guess only remastering isn't as bad, its like just making it a bit louder and a little extra hi-end...

but again i dont know why i care, save for the 1st track, i dint' really even give a shit about this album.  whatever i know my opinion aint shit

ya, they were great live on this tour too, it was kinda disappointing seeing a new drummer instead of Timmy though, I remember seeing a show they did @ fireside bowl right before recording the album and I was all like where's Timmy? Ya, I guess that dude got in the band through an online video submit. I forget his name but he was skinny and wore the Queers USA band shirt a lot and smoked a lot of cigs. Was definitely not anywhere near as good a drummer as Timmy. This album could have been just as good as Death By Television if it had Timmy on drums. Too bad he quit.
