Abhorrance... an 80's metal band opening for RWAG (GWAR IN HUMAN DISGUISE) June 93'... the singer proposed to his girlfriend on stage... and the crowd boo'd him off... it got ugly.

Also at a GWAR show in 92'... FLIPPER... great band... but terrible, terrible live.... I was speechless... the drummer was awesome though...

I Mother Earth opening for Ash and Stabbing Westward (who were awful as well).   Ash made the whole thing worth it.

Their records might be OK, but Flesh For Lulu's opening performance at The Boathouse in '89 bit hard.

That awful awful band, the something Chipmunks, in Morgantown, WV. Opened the Ghoulies and Apers show we played down there awhile back... I know some of you were there?

Hahaha, Cryptorchid Chipmunk. We heard them tuning their instruments outside... luckily I went back to my dorm to fetch someone while they were playing, so I didnt have to listen to or see any of it. I see flyers for their shows at that venue everywhere ALL THE TIME, so they are one of those terrible bands who just live at a certain venue for their entire lifetime.


Worst opening band?

Independents for the Queers. or Living Comedy (?) for Ben Folds. Yuck.

oh my, I know someone didn't just say Superdrag.

Superdrag is breath-taking live.  Maybe it's just the fanboy inside me, but I totally leave everytime with wet pants.  

I've seen a lot of shitty bands open up for good ones, but DOO RAG opening for The Blues Explosion takes the cake.  AWFUL.  I had a wicked headache and it marked the first time I ever really wished for death.

The Candy Snatchers are amazing, but I assume they were real high on blow or something, which probably made them suck that night.

The Candy Snatchers are great....in tiny clubs. Where they played with the Buzzcocks-Irving Plaza - is a very large club. The stage is about nine miles wide so the poor band was overwhelmed. The lead singer even said at the end of their set  that this gig sucked and they were heading for the bar

this one band who opened for us in winnipeg.. they couldnt time thier music together but they sure could time thier stage moves and skate punk jumps.
this other band in a small town who opened for us, the drummer just did a speratic off time nofx beat and the other guys, were trying to do somthing..else.. i think. the one and only band that ever asked jeremy for his opinion, it was great. i think he said somthing like 'well when you get a bass player will be better.'

The Race opening up for Of Montreal.  They brought in a whole drum kit and then only used it for one song, and then the rest of the time they tried to be Kid A-type Radiohead.  Blech.
