The tournament's just started, and we already have our first upset.  Phrank moves on while Billy can only hang his head in shame.

Watch It Mike vs Blue Bullets Round 1

Watch It Mike
Ten Yard Fight - Running Scared - This is some pretty shitty hardcore.  My ears find this offensive.  It's repetitive, the gang vocals are horrible, and the lead singer can't sing worth a shit.  2/10

Blue Bullets
Jawbreaker - Ache - I love it when you got a clear cut winner.  7/10

Watch It Mike vs Blue Bullets Round 2

Watch It Mike
The Copyrights - Face the Radio - The chorus is so damn catchy.  Excuse me while I sing along.  7/10

Blue Bullets
The Shins - We Built a Raft and we Floated - They should have titled this We Wrote a Song and it's Bloated.  This sucks ass.  Sounds like something written for a cheesy 70s cartoon.  4/10

Watch It Mike 1
Blue Bullets 1

Watch It Mike vs Blue Bullets Round 3

Watch It Mike
Saves the Day - Jukebox Breakdown - This is a slightly better than average pop tune.  My foot is lightly tapping the floor at this very moment.  6/10

Blue Bullets
Teenage Bottlerocket - Bloodbath at Burger King - Once again, you'll have to excuse me while I sing along.  8/10

Watch It Mike 1
Blue Bullets 2

Blue Bullets moves on to the next round.  Watch It Mike! heads back to the sweatshop where he makes kick ass Blasters t-shirts.

Bort vs Sockhop Round 1

Bort
The Raveonettes - Ode to L.A. - Beautiful harmonies.  Beautiful lead vocals.  Beautiful melodies.  This is great.  8/10

Sockhop
Johnathan Richman - That Summer Feeling - Another beautiful song.  You two aren't making this easy.  This is good, but it's lacking the energy in the Raveonettes song.  This is really good, but a bit too mellow.  7/10

Bort 1
Sockhop 0

Bort vs Sockhop Round 2

Bort
Squeeze - Slap and Tickle - Um, ok.  This reminds me of the music for the Bad Boys arcade game.  I kicked so much ass at that game.  This sounds like shitty ass disco.  I don't not care for this at all.  3/10

Sockhop
Cub - Little Star - Oh Cub, you silly silly band.  I want to love you, but I just can't.  This is just too god damn flaky.  Still, it's better than that disco crap Bort's station threw upon me.  4/10

Bort 1
Sockhop 1

Bort vs Sockhop Round 2

Bort
James Brown - I Don't Mind - Ooooooh.  So damn soulful.  Only complaint I have is the backing vocals.  They need to drag out the verse.  Still, great song.  9/10

Sockhop
Talking Head - Nothing But Flowers - Hah, I thought this was Paul Simon at first.  This is all a bit too fluffy for me.  I feel like I'm on a Carnival cruise ship right now.  The chorus is pretty damn catchy.  Actually, the chorus is really fucking catchy.  You know, this song's really growing on me.  7/10

Bort 2
Sockhop 1

Bort moves on, Sockhop goes home.

You've probably right.  But I still think that was a below average song.  Cub's one of those bands that I wanted to like, but I just found them to be cheesy.  They've got a few good tunes, but most of their stuff is forgettable.

Alex Jones vs Warsau Round 1

Alex Jones
The Unseen - Remains Unseen - I would classify this as forgettable hardcore.  Oh great, here's the breakdown.  This is hardcore paint by numbers.  I feel like I've heard this same song a million times before.  4/10

Warsau
Sniff n' the Tears - Drivers Seat - This song is taking it's sweet ass time getting to the rock.  Hmm, this is OK I guess.  I would expect to hear this on some 70s soft rock compilation CD.  It's slightly better than doctor office music.  5/10

Alex Jones 0
Warsau 1

Alex Jones vs Warsau Round 2

Alex Jones
NOFX - Vincent - I probably would have thought that this was the bees knees 15 years ago.  Now, I find it just ok.  5/10

Warsau
The Ergs - Books About Miles Davis - Alex is sitting in his bouncer, snoozing away.  I imagine this song is giving him some pleasant dreams.  9/10

Alex Jones 0
Warsau 2

Warsau lives to fight another day.

EricJ vs Allagesdave Round 1

EricJ
Scared of Chaka - Dead Afterwords - God damn this is catchy.  You know that scene in Risky Business where Tom Cruise slides across the floor in his underwear while Old Time Rock and Roll plays in the background?  I would totally do that slide with this song playing in the background.  8/10

Allagesdave
The Falcon - The Angry Cry of the Angry Pie - Never really understood all the hoopla over these guys.  This song is good, but it's not earth shattering good.  6/10

EricJ vs Allagesdave Round 2

EricJ
A-Ha - Take On Me - I am a god damn sucker for this song.  God damn it, it's catchy, and I don't care if you all make fun of me for loving it.  8/10

Allagesdave
Career Suicide - You Got Caught - Now here's some new hardcore that I can enjoy.  Love the energy.  This is pretty damn solid.  8/10

EricJ vs Allagesdave Round 3

EricJ
The Clash - The Magnificent 7 - Not my favorite Clash track, but it's pretty damn good.  7/10

Allagesdave
The Gaslight Anthem - I'd Call You Woodie Joe - I really need to listen to these guys more.  This is pretty good.  7/10

EricJ 1
Allagesdave 0

Eric wins the best of three, thanks to a win and two ties.
