I mean, maybe I got too stoned or watched too many consecutive episodes of The Biggest Loser: Australia or something, but I went to sleep last night and woke up this morning with the uncontrollable urge to read comic books.  I almost bought like four issues of the Hulk today, but I figured I'd probably rather eat lunch.  What's good these days?  I realize we sort of had this discussion in a completely unrelated thread, but I figured I'd extract that shit.  I kinda wanna read the new Flash when it starts this week.  Oh, and anyone ever subscribe to shit through Marvel or DC?  Seems like a good deal.

It's nothing current, but if you're into Vertigo or more story-driven books, I'd recommend Preacher to anybody.

It's my favorite story I've ever read.  In any medium, not just comics.

Daredevil, Superman, Capt. America, and The Green Lantern have all been really good lately.

The Batman books are in the middle of a big shakeup

but have been really good as well, you just might need to catch up Wikipedia style.

Yeah, I read a little about that Batman shit when I was investigating Red Robin #1 which comes out in a couple of weeks.  I'm kinda into trying to find some shit that's just starting and jumping on it, thus the interest in the new Flash stuff.

Grath, how much are the subscriptions?  If you decide to subscribe to anything Batman-related, I'll go halvies with you.

Im really trying to stick to buying TPB collections of whole arcs now, takes up less space, works out to less $, easier to transport to the can, etc.
Garth, the "Red Hulk" series is relatively new and a lot of fun, if you just want to see Hulk smash some shit up real good.
Nothing like getting paid to read comics online!

It's like 22-25 for a title, which seems decent seeing as these fucking things cost $3 an issue these days.  Never been a big Batman guy, but I might go for this Red Robin nonsense (http://dccomics.com/dcu/comics/?cm=11868).

I dl'ed the first 6 new Hulks last night, and Midtown Comics has everything from 7 on, so if I dig that shit, I'll probably jump on that.

I'm also interested in the tpb route myself.  This all started by me reading about Marvel's "Ultimate" line, which seemed interesting to me, conceptually, so I might grab a couple of those.

Look on ebay for lots of trades, you can score a massive lot of Ultimate TPBs for pretty cheap.I always wanted to subscribe to comics from Marvel or DC but it takes weeks to get an issue and it's not that cheap. Better off just getting a reserve through your local comic shop.

Well I'm in Canada so it takes even longer, but read the fine print in the ads; think it's at least a couple weeks per issue, even if you're in the U.S. Every reserve I've ever had has usually saved me like 50% off cover price, although now I've trimmed my list down so much and download a ton of shit. I love that these scanner nerds have all the new releases up the DAY the come out. Internetz FTW.

Yeah, it does.   It's one of the only regular looking things that's starting a new run in the next month or so.  I don't really feel like catching up on 25-100+ issues of anything else, and I'm definitely retarded enough that that's what I'd try to do.

Yeah but it seems like it's an offshoot of a big event in the Batman comics, so there'd be catching up to do anyway!  Still and all, I'm down.

Holy shit.  I just bought the first Preacher book.  Haven't started it yet but flipping through it, it looked really good.  I'm excited about this.
The Cisco Kid and his English-mangling sidekick Pancho travel the old west in the grand tradition of the Lone Ranger, righting wrongs and fighting injustice wherever they find it.
