He was surfing near Jacksonville beach and from what I've heard, he broke his neck. My aunt and great uncle and great aunt were all at the beach, but weren't around when it happened. They kept him alive until yesterday when they found out there wasn't any brain activity, so they took him off of life support around 11.
It's crazy to think that someone so kind and fun could just die that quick and unexpected. He was my favorite uncle, he was honestly the kindest person I've met, and really really fun.
I guess he was lucky to get to 62. When I was about 10 or so, he was struck by lightning and then about two years ago he was mowing the lawn and a nail went through both of his lungs and he nearly died.
It's not like I really expect you people to care, I just feel like saying how great he was. This blows.
