MICHELOB (1-2) VS "TODD" (2-2)

Michelob: No Warning “Too Much to Bare”: I really like this, though the breakdown thing is awfully predictable. 6/10
”Todd”: Pains of Being Pure at Heart “Come Saturday” Wow, they should get a name that isn’t the worst name ever, because this sounds pretty cool actually. It’s like a sped-up Church. 8/10

"Todd" gets his third win. He's in solid position to reach the finals.

AGGRO (2-2) VS GURTMAN (1-2)

Aggro: The Clash “Clampdown”: You keep wearing blue and brown you jerks. This album will never get old. I will listen to this shit in the nursing home. 10/10
Gurtman: Full of Fancy “Stones Throw”: I really like this song, but I prefer the mean/sassy songs to the sweet songs by this band. 7/10

AGGRO for the win!

CLEPTIC (2-1-1) VS HANNY (2-1)

Cleptic: Steve Earle “Goodbye”: This dude is bummed the fuck out, that’s for sure. I don’t find this enjoyable. 4/10
Hanny: Operation Ivy “Jaded”: This is something that I still enjoy. 7/10

Hanny is 3-1!!!

Damn, I'm starting to stink up this MHI.  I had the perfect opportunity to knock Billy off his high horse and a screwed the pooch.  :-\

MICHELOB (1-3) VS HANNY (3-1)

Michelob Riley needs a win here.

Michelob: Propaghandi “Hate, Myth, Muscle, Etiquitte”: Man, I really used to love this song, but I just can’t really listen to it any more. 6/10
Hanny: ”: Billy Bragg & Wilco “At My Window Sad and Lonely: This is as beautiful as a chicken! 8/10

Hanny is in good shape.

BILLY (4-0-1) VS TODD (3-2)

Todd needs a win to stay alive.

Billy: Municipal Waste “The Thing”: This is some pretty okay hardcore. I’m not enjoying this quite as much as I’d hoped, though. 5/10
”Todd”: Pains of Being Pure at Heart “Come Saturday” Wow, they should get a name that isn’t the worst name ever, because this sounds pretty cool actually. It’s like a sped-up Church. 8/10

big win.

BILLY (4-1-1) VS GURTMAN (1-3)

Billy: Baseball Furies “Disposable Hustler” This is one of those songs where it’s difficult to get the rhythm of it,  which is kind of cool. The guitars kinda crash in out of nowhere and the rambling vocals leave you wondering where the fuck you are. Pretty good. 6/10
Gurtman: Replacements “I Will Dare”: Has anyone ever heard the acoustic version of this that John Doe did? It’s pretty cool. Great song. 10/10

Billy is sliding!

AGGRO (3-2) VS HANNY (4-1)

PLAYOFF IMPLICATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Aggro: The Gadgits “Bad Gadgit”: I’m pretty sure I’ve never heard this band. This is pretty well done garagey ska music. I suspect these guys probably listen to the good ska. It’s not really something I want to listen to, though. 5/10
Hanny: ”: Minutemen “God Bows to Math” – This one always makes me think of NoMeansNo, especially the vocals. I pretty much love everything on Double Nickels on the Dime. 8/10

Hanny is in very good shape at 5-1.

MICHELOB (1-4) VS GURTMAN (2-3)

Michelob: Lemuria “Get Some Sleep”: This is not the Lemuria song that I love. But it’s still really good. This one is a little mall-ish, but catchy. I’d like to hear these songs with the vocals buried a little bit more. 7/10
Gurtman: The All-American Rejects “Change Your Mind”: This is some really polished radio pop. The melodies are okay, but it’s just so icky sounding. 4/10

Michelob picks up win number 2.

CLEPTIC (2-2-1) VS "TODD" (4-2)

Cleptic: Iggy Pop “Lust for Life”: Despite this being way overplayed and then ripped off by a million shitty bands in the 21st century, this is still a great song. 9/10
”Todd”: Elf Power “Somewhere Down the River”: This is sorta middle eastern sounding at the beginning. Am I allowed to say that? Now it sounds like something off of REM “Murmur.”  Jangliness with some nice slowly developing and winding melodies. Am I allowed to say that? 7/10

Tough loss for "Todd." He finishes at 4-3.

Let's take a look at the standings.

Hanny  5-1
Billy     4-2-1
Cleptic 3-2-1
"Todd" 4-3
Aggro 3-3
GurtMan 2-4
Michelob 2-4
Greg      1-5

It looks like Hanny has clinched a spot in the finals. Billy has clinched a share of 2nd place.  If Cleptic can win his last match, he will face Billy in a playoff to see who will face Hanny in the finals. Everyone else, I guess you're just playing for your own goddamned self respect.

I really hope I win this final match, but I'm disappointed as hell in my performance so far.

GREG (1-5) VS MICHELOB (2-4)

Greg: The PG-13s "Oh So" - This is not up my alley at all. Wow, that was, really bad. 1/10
Michelob: Cloak/Dagger "Runways" - I would like to see this band live. Good loud fun punk rock with awesome guitars. 8/10

Michelob.

I pulled some OK shit, except that (guilty pleasure) AAR song...hehehe
I don't there's anyone else on the planet who would or could write a love song about ocelots except for Christy Brigitte Darlington.
Dude's totally unappreciated.

HANNY (5-1) VS GURTMAN (2-4)

HANNY: OTIS REDDING "I'VE BEEN LOVING YOU TOO LONG" - HANSTER IS NOT LETTING UP ONE LITTLE BIT. 10/10
GURTMAN: AWESOME SNAKES "FIST FIGHT" - THIS IS SAUCY AS SHIT. SAUCY I SAY. VERY GOOD. 9/10

GURTMAN CAN WALK OUT WITH HIS HEAD HELD HIGH.

LAST GAME OF THE SEASON

AGGRO (3-3) VS CLEPTIC (3-2-1)

CAN AGGRO PLAY THE ROLE OF THE SPOILER?! CLEPTIC NEEDS A WIN TO FORCE A 1-GAME PLAYOFF WITH BILLY.

AGGRO: DEAD KENNEDYS "STRAIGHT A's" -  Man, I wore this record out in high school. Not one of my favorites off of Give Me Convenience, but really good. 7/10

I've been jamming to the PG-13s all morning.  I'm guessing this was a piss poor strategy.

you vs. billy is one and done...

The winner vs. Hanny in a best of 3.
I probably won't get to this until tomorrow.
