Will Ferrell Buys Rights to King Dork
« on: November 15, 2006, 09:51:40 AM »
I'm waiting to be hamsterdanced on this one, but I just read in the paper (the Metro) that Will Ferrell's production company has bought the movie rights to King Dork. It will be their first production.

Congratulations Dr. Frank!

I just hope they dont fuck it up.

You said it.

I guess I could kinda see Ferrell as Little Big Tom.

I dont think he's gonna be in the movie (good lord I hope not, unless he plays a character like you mentioned).

as has been said before, this is the first tiny step in a very long process.  but at least Dr Frank gets a nice check.

Man, I really hope it was an oversized novelty check.  That's got to be a great feeling.

Good for Frank.  I hope Will Farrell is a better producer than he is an actor.

This is one of the best things I've ever heard.  Ferrell as Little Big Tom would be excellent.

Yeh, thats really the only role I could properly see him in. I kinda hope he isnt in the movie though.

I like Will Ferrell, so I kind of hope he is.  However, I hope he doesn't sort of steal the show away from the kid.  Maybe just a cameo or something?

Yeah it's literally doable in like an hour and a half.

I like him too, but I feel that this movie could be really good, if well done, and not really on the kind of humor that Ferrell brings to the table.

I read it in one go on the flight over to New York in June, which was about 6 hours long, so it's definitely doable in a weekend.

I hope he is in it just because of the instant draw it would mean.

now you guys who have read the book should make a thread about who should play who.

I read crazy fast, and I tend to read at times when I have a lot of time to do so, so I read this in one sitting and from what I remember it definitely took no longer than a couple of hours.  Everybody reads at different paces, but I would say a weekend is definitely, definitely enough time.

You must be a speed reader.  90 minutes?  That's like 3 pages a minute.  I'm pretty sure King Dork is 300 pages.
Sorry I lied so much but my back really hurt.

I had a dream that badmoon wasn't an utter and complete failure at everything he ever tried.
That's all it was.  A dream.

I read fast.  But it might have been 2 hours or something, I don't remember exactly.  It was definitely one sitting.

Absolutely. I crammed it in the two days before Frank got here because I felt guilty for not having read it yet.

Finished it in the course of three days on the beach on Miami.

Boo ya!

So who should play the title character? The guy I pictured was sorta like Topher Grace but taller and with glasses.

it doesn't matter how fast you read if the material sucks. but king dork is totally awesome and you'll want to keep reading and you'll read faster than you ever thought you could. my estimated reading time: 23 minutes.

I read it over the course of a day broken up in a few pieces.  And I'm a pretty slow reader.

Read the glossary first.

Yeh I didnt know the glossary was even there until I finished the book. I think its actually funnier in hindsight.
